lunadamepan: 2/20/12: Yo Apoyo A Planned Parenthood (I support Planned Parenthood) Favorite reaction “Why would you wear that in public?” I wear it because Planned Parenthood has supported me in many ways. It has provided medical care for me and my friends (when no one else would because we’re young, broke, and uninsured). It’s where I did my first internship. I was begrudgingly on the road to a Communications major because I didn’t know what else to do. I’m now a health educator with experience and expertise in my field. It’s where I started my work on political campaigns. I’ve debated a priest (who degraded me and called my parents “fake Catholics”) on television, kept my cool, and won. I’ve knocked on countless doors, traveled across the country, and have felt part of a greater movement. In my community it provides a sorely needed safe space for social justice groups to meet and hold events. Planned Parenthood supports me and my community on an hourly/daily basis, the very least I could do is wear a T-shirt. (Also, taking back the Latina tag. Take that tumblr.)
