I don't have health insurance right now because I'm unemployed and in the middle of a move, so I've been out of pills for over a month. My periods are crippling and all I can do about it is hole myself up in my room for a week [or more] and suffer anyway. I have to go to Planned Parenthood once I'm moved out to get everything taken care of, and it's terrifying that people are trying to take that away. What would I do otherwise? :(

Your story is, sadly, very common these days. Conservatives are making Planned Parenthood out to be a money guzzling Abortions-R-Us when in reality, for a lot of people, it comes down to basic affordable healthcare like birth control or STI testing that they may only be able to get at Planned Parenthood.

It depends on where you live (or where you are moving to, in this case). If your local Planned Parenthood clinics are in immediate danger of being defunded, closed down, or having increased prices for services, you may be able to ask for a referral to an alternative health facility. The gamble with that, however, is whether or not you will be able to find a facility that is equally as affordable (especially for uninsured patients), provides the same services as PP, and is easily accessible (ie, you won’t have to travel long distance to get there).

Hopefully this is not the case for you. And with so many people supporting and desperately needing Planned Parenthood and their array of services, we’re rallying every day to tell the GOP to back off. Our health is not a game. Our health is not a political strategy. Our lives are not disposable.

Was the anarcho-syndicalism intentional?

I’ve seen a couple comments asking that, and to be honest, I’m not sure. If this poster was designed by someone who was not an employee of the organization or by a designer who wanted to subliminally advocate for anarcho-syndicalism, it’s entirely possible. Planned Parenthood is not necessarily affiliated with a political party or political ideology, although they have obviously been vilified by the right and have voiced their support for certain political candidates (most recently, Cecile Richards criticized the GOP and Mitt Romney and voiced her support for Barack Obama’s reelection). If anything, PP is most closely associated with the Democratic party. Their employees, volunteers, and patients, however, are of a wide spectrum of political affiliations. As far as their political associations from the mid 20th century- that I would have to research.
